On the afternoon of November 23, the open selection for the 2020 President Scholarship of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering started by the way of defensing in conference room 307, Borui building. Five judges and more than 60 students participated in the public defense meeting. The defense meeting aims to set a good example for all the students in order to strengthen their faith in hard-working and innovation by implementing the "student-centered" concept to show the spirit of excellent students so as to lay a solid foundation for the construction of studying atmosphere and the cultivation of students' comprehensive quality.

According to the relevant selection requirements of "2020 President Scholarship ”, one candidate will be recommended to participate in the public defense meeting through a series of selection procedure including students’ application, institution’s judgement and committee’s check. The candidate is required to make a detailed report and presentation to the judges on his professional learning, scientific research, social practice and public service. Then, all members of the jury conducted a secret ballot. In the end, Yang Xiaoyu of class 1703 of water supply and drainage won the recommendation qualification with the result of full vote. 

Deputy secretary Zhong Mingtao expressed his warm congratulations to the success of the defense meeting by making a concluding speech. He hoped that the institute should take the open selection as an opportunity to cultivate talents. He also stressed that young students should learn from the winners and took Mr. Chen Jinqiang, an outstanding alumni of our institute, as an example, establishing lofty ideals, conveying positive energy and being a respected and reliable student.
